Legendary National Basketball Association player Charles Barkley has made no secret about his love for the sport of professional hockey and it has become a common theme to see Barkley at more and more National Hockey League events over the years. As Barkley's love of the game has flourished so has his knowledge of the sport, and over the weekend the legendary NBA player was asked to make his very own playoff prediction bracket.
Barkley would do just that live on the air for TNT, selecting a full playoff bracket from the start of the opening round of the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs all the way to picking a Stanley Cup champion for this season. Throughout the segment Barkley displayed intimate knowledge of the teams, their players and even some of the injuries they are currently dealing with, showcasing the fact that this was something he put a lot of time and effort into.
Fans in Canada are likely going to love Barkley's bracket with the NBA legend predicting a pair of deep runs from two of the Canadian teams in this tournament, so deep in fact that Barkley has predicted them to meet in the Stanley Cup final. Those teams are the Edmonton Oilers, who Barkley expects to clean house in the Western Conference, and the Toronto Maple Leafs who Barkley has predicted will emerge from the Eastern Conference.
An all-Canadian final would of course guarantee that the Stanley Cup would be returning to Canada after a very long hiatus, but we will have to wait and see if Barkley's predictions play out.
