Nathan MacKinnon already made it clear when his Colorado Avalanche were crown champions this summer that close friend and Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby had better be ‘the drunkest guy’ at his Stanley Cup party.

While we have no clue if Sid was indeed the drunkest of MacKinnon’s friends at his party back in Nova Scotia, we know that the latter didn’t hold back when questions came on Thursday about the two players’ training sessions this summer.
MacKinnon, finally a champion joining Crosby’s stature in the league, was quick to correct reporters like Michael Russo of The Athletic on getting to work out with Crosby this summer:

“No, he worked out with me a little bit.”

You gotta love how MacKinnon and Crosby can make fun at one another, as we love the chemistry they have on television, notably in all of those Tim Hortons’ commercials.

Can you imagine how amazing the pair would be in the same lineup?

Upon winning the Stanley Cup, MacKinnon had revealed that he knew his fate was in good hands when he checked into a Tampa hotel the night before Game 6 and his room number ended in 87. He had revealed how he reached out to the Penguins’ captain for advice throughout Colorado’s run to the Final.

So while it is hilarious that MacKinnon is acting like the leader in this training anecdote, we bet he loves learning from Crosby’s experience.
