Mike Smith says the fans got him “a little mixed up out there”, leading to Game 1 blunder
Come on man! You messed up! Stop blaming the fans!

In case you missed it last night, Edmonton Oilers goaltender Mike Smith absolutely BLEW IT for his team late in Game 1 of the Oilers' and Los Angeles Kings' opening round playoff series.
With just over five minutes remaining in a 3-3 game Smith pulls the absolutely boneheaded move of trying to play the puck up the center of the ice. His pass gets picked off and he actually manages to recover and make a diving save... but it's too late because he's out of position and the Oilers are scrambling.
You know what happens next...
What on EARTH are you doing, Mike Smith!?!?!
High risk, high reward my ass! That's all risk, no reward! Stay in the net!
Needless to say that Oilers fans were NOT happy with Smith's decision, but his post-game comments might make fans even more upset. When asked about the atmosphere at Rogers Place Smith praised the Oilers faithful for their enthusiasm, but then he also tried to deflect some of the blame for his late 3rd period blunder onto the fans.
Check it out:
I mean... come on, man. You messed up... BIG TIME... just take the blame and move forward.
More from Smith:
"We got out of our structure a little bit just because it was so energetic you know and the energy you obviously feed off it and maybe it got us out of our structure a little bit."
- Mike Smith
You heard it here first, Oilers fans. Tone it down. You don't want to get the boys too worked up...
