Mike Modano tears up as Stars honor him with a statue.

It was an emotional day for former National Hockey League star Mike Modano and given the fact that a literal statue was being unveiled in his honor, I think we can all understand where that outpouring of emotion was coming from.

It didn't take long for Modano to get choked up as the fans in Dallas gave him an incredible reception, drowning him out with cheers before he could even begin to speak. Modano was immediately overwhelmed by the support and the love from the fans, openly displaying his emotions before a very supportive crowd.

The unveiling of the statue that will forever immortalize Modano in Stars history was no less emotional. The Stars did a great job here, unveiling a beautiful statue that does a great job of honoring the legacy and career that Modano has had in the city of Dallas as well as with the Stars and North Stars.

A well deserved honor for a truly deserving player and one of the great gentlemen of our sport.
