Matvei Michkov gets ejected but leaves the game in style.
The Philadelphia Flyers star rookie has been tossed from the game... and he left in style.
Philadelphia Flyers star rookie Matvei Michkon is so darn cool that he can even make getting tossed from a National Hockey League game in which his team is losing look cool.
On Sunday night, Michkov was ejected from a game for the first time in his NHL career after he threw a few punches at Utah HC forward Barrett Hayton right in front of the officials who were in the process of trying to break apart a scrum that had formed along the boards. It was late in the game with the Flyers trailing, so the officials simply made the decision to toss Michkov right then and there.
Here is a look at how the full incident played out during the game tonight:
You can see a close up replay of the punches that got Michkov tossed just below:
In perhaps the most unbelievable part of this story however, Michkov didn't seem to be the least bit phased by the ejection and if anything he made the best of the opportunity it provided him. Michkov headed back to the Flyers bench to get some love from his fellow teammates before stopping in front of his adoring fans to sign at least one autograph which could be clearly seen on the jumbotron in the building.
That has to be one of the coolest moves I've ever seen from a player getting ejected, and of course it came from the young superstar who has dominated the conversation in Philadelphia this season. You can see Michkov signing the autograph towards the end of the video below, which is just a little over a minute long:
