Are the Toronto Maple Leafs gearing up to make a deal in order to aid them in a playoff run? Right now, they absolutely need goaltending help, and could be on the prowl for reinforcements in the crease.

But as the saying goes, you need to give in order to get. And among the young assets that opposition general managers are coveting is rookie forward Matthew Knies, who made his debut for the Leafs late last season.

However, Leafs writer Jonas Siegel of The Athletic is providing some relief for Leafs fans, essentially confirming that there’s no chance that Treliving parts ways with him.

"Matthew Knies is one name opposing GMs will undoubtedly have circled. Knies has played so well, though, and boasts such enticing upside that he’s presumably a complete no-go for the Brendan Shanahan-Brad Treliving front office," Siegel reported.

Knies is skating in his first full National Hockey League season, having appeared in 30 games and tallying eight goals and six assists.
