Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau’s younger sister Katie makes emotional announcement
Almost three months ago, Johnny Gaudreau and his younger brother Matthew were killed by a drunk driver on the eve of their sister’s wedding. She makes this announcement:
Almost three months ago, Columbus Blue Jackets star forward Johnny Gaudreau and his younger brother Matthew were stuck and killed by a drunk driver while riding bikes in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, on August 29, on the eve of their sister’s wedding, where both brothers were to be groomsmen. Everyone has been broken by the tragedy, especially Katie who was supposed to embark on a very different new journey that day.
She recently shared a picture of the four siblings, which also includes sister Kristen, remembering the bond they all shared.
Katie also decided not too long ago that she and fiance Devin Joyce will tie the knot in the summer of 2025. The couple were making the final preparations for their wedding on the night Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau were killed. She described how the “best day of her life” took the worse possible turn when her brothers were struck and killed.
Devin Joyce and Katie will now tie the know on July 11, 2025 and will wed in Philadelphia instead of New Jersey.
Johnny was 31 years old at the time of his death, while Matthew was 29. Meredith Gaudreau is pregnant with the couple’s third child as the couple shared daughter Noa and son Johnny. Matthew Gaudreau’s wife, Madeline, is also expecting a child, the couple’s first, a son due in December, who will be named Tripp.
I keep thinking of the Gaudreau family and sending out prayers to them. I hope Katie will feel the presences of Matthew and Johnny on her special day in July.
