Marc-Andre Fleury praises teammates after big win in Seattle.
Marc-Andre Fleury had some high praise for his Wild teammates after a big win on Saturday.
In spite of the numerous challenges they have faced this season, including committing a sizeable chunk of their cap space to players like Ryan Suter and Zach Parise who haven't played for the team in years, the Minnesota Wild have experienced a recent surge that has put them right back in the hunt for the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs.
A win over the Seattle Kraken earned the Wild 3 victories over their last 4 games and they did so while facing some tough competition along the way with games against the playoff bound Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets over that stretch.
"Real proud of the boys you know?" said Fleury after the win. "Play Edmonton last night, flew in late last night, go to bed late, but the guys battled all night again."
The Wild have done so by simplifying their game and focusing on doing things the right way, a message that Fleury echoed when he praised his teammates following the big win on Saturday night.
"Lot of big goals, special teams, a lot of block shots in my end," said Fleury with a smile. "Guys doing the right things, all those small little things to help the guys win and get those 2 points."
It is a message that the Wild will need to continue practicing and preaching if they wish to close the 2 point gap that remains between them and the Nashville Predators for the final Wild Card spot.
