Marc-Andre Fleury lets in one of the strangest goals in NHL history

Draisaitl can only laugh!

UPDATE: SBD Editor Brady Trettenero managed to get a great clip that makes this goal even weirder... check out this bounce:

In his 1,000th career NHL start Marc-Andre Fleury might want a do-over.

The future Hall of Famer just allowed one of the strangest goals in NHL history.

Just 27 seconds into tonight's contest between the Minnesota Wild and the Edmonton Oilers, Fleury absolutely whiffed on a lazy dump-in and had the puck dribble between his legs and into the goal.

This play has to be seen to be believed:

I've watched a lot of hockey in my life and I'm not sure I've ever seen a goal quite this strange.

Sure, I've seen goalies whiff on long-range shots before, but this is different. First off, Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl isn't even making a play for the goal here. He tries a cross-ice pass that hits a defender and then appears to dribble past two players in two zones before it gets to Fleury who is... for some reason... choking up on his goalie stick?

You can see that Fleury keeps his top hand at the top of his stick's paddle and attempts to bat at the puck and play it to the right wing. He whiffs horribly and then falls to the ice in complete astonishment.

What a truly wild and bizarre goal. Game on!
