The Toronto Maple Leafs have added some additional depth to their blue line.

On Monday, Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving signed former Anaheim Ducks defenseman Simon Benoit to a one year deal that carries an average annual value and cap hit of $775,000.

Benoit, an undrafted 24 year old out of Laval, Quebec, has spent the past 3 seasons of his professional hockey career with the Ducks, amassing a total of 4 goals and 11 assists for 15 points in 137 NHL games. Benoit is coming off of the best season of his career, one in which he appeared in 78 games for the Ducks, recording 3 goals and adding 7 assists for a total of 10 points on the campaign.

That step up, both in terms of games played and points produced, is no doubt what put him on the radar for the Maple Leafs this summer.
