Maple Leafs provide important update on Anthony Stolarz's condition
THIS JUST IN: a very important update after the goalie left last night's game with a lower-body injury.
Goalie Anthony Stolarz left last night’s game for the Maple Leafs due to a lower-body injury and did not return as Toronto won 3-2 over the visiting Anaheim Ducks. After calling up Dennis Hildeby from their American Hockey League roster, the Maple Leafs have confirmed that Stolarz is out day to day with a lower-body injury, per David Alter.
There is a sense that this is good news for the team, seeing that the netminder is considered day and day and should be reevaluated shortly.
Stolarz had started the game on Thursday, but once the second period came around, Joseph Woll was in the crease, with the Leafs announcing that Stolarz wouldn’t return shortly after. He stopped seven of eight shots faced and was not credited with the win.
Before this injury, Stolarz had become the Maple Leafs’ top guy in net, putting up a 9-5-2 record with a .927 save percentage and 2.15 goals against average in 17 starts this season.
