Maple Leafs make huge push for Mitch Marner trade on Draft floor!
“They are trying to do everything in their power to make a move.”
Some believe a trade involving forward Mitch Marner by the Toronto Maple Leafs could take place later tonight during the first round on the Draft floor in Las Vegas. Especially since insider Frank Seravalli revealed on the DFO Rundown Podcast how the Maple Leafs and general manager Brad Treliving have been calling teams to discuss what a potential deal could look like.
“Make no mistake at this exact moment in time this week, the Toronto Maple Leafs are talking to teams about Mitch Marner and what that might look like.”
“…And I want to be ultra clear about it, that’s what the discussion is right now behind the scenes. They are talking to teams and trying to, what are you interested in, what can we do.”
“I believe they are trying to do everything in their power to make a move.”
It has also been reported in the past hours that the star winger has reportedly four teams he’d be willing to waive his no-move clause to in order to accept a trade out of Toronto. The Fourth Period reports that Marner would be willing to accept a transaction to four landing spots, the Dallas Stars, Chicago Blackhawks, Vegas Golden Knights or Nashville Predators.
While the no-move clause held by Marner is a huge part of whatever deal may come, his contract and cap space will be the big focus in talks. Marner’s AAV of $10.9 million is quite a challenge to take on.
From Marner’s perspective and what we’ve been hearing from his camp, he is set honoring the final year of his deal.
However, Toronto keeps exploring all of their options and one stunning move could surface tonight during the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft.
