The Toronto Maple Leafs have made another change in goal.

After finally putting struggling netminder Ilya Samsonov on waivers on Sunday, the Maple Leafs are making a follow up move on Monday.

According to an official announcement from the Maple Leafs' department of public relations, the Maple Leafs have in fact called up rookie goaltender Dennis Hildeby. This move does come as a bit of a surprise given that the Maple Leafs were reportedly extremely reluctant to rush Hildeby up to the National Hockey League level, but the situation with Samsonov has likely forced the team's hand here.

Hildeby, selected in the 4th round (122nd overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Maple Leafs has been solid this season while playing for the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Over 15 appearances he has a 2.20 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.

No word yet on how much of a look Hildeby will get at the NHL level off the back of this call up but with Martin Jones as the only current option for the Maple Leafs you have to believe that Hildeby will get a few chances to showcase what he's got in the big league.
