Madness on waivers as Raphael Lavoie gets claimed again with more players moving on the wire!

Raphael Lavoie’s wild waiver week continues. Get all of the details here.

The waiver carousel keeps going round and round for forward Raphael Lavoie, who was placed on waivers again by the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday and was claimed, yet again, by the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday.

This has been a crazy week for the 24-year-old player as Chris Johnston points out:

Oct. 6: Placed on waivers by Edmonton
Oct. 7: Claimed on waivers by Vegas
Oct. 8: Placed on waivers by Vegas
Oct. 9: Claimed on waivers by Edmonton
Oct. 10: Placed on waivers by Edmonton
Oct. 11: Claimed on waivers by Vegas

Lavoie could now stay in Vegas if no other team has put in a claim for him. If that’s the case, the Golden Knights will be able to send him down to the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights without having to place him on waivers again.

This is the third time this week Lavoie lands on waivers. He was originally set to start the year with the Oilers but was claimed by Vegas off waivers. The Oilers reclaimed him on Wednesday, but placed him back on the wire Thursday. And now this on Friday.

Lavoie appeared in seven NHL games with Edmonton throughout the regular season, but failed to record a point. He however put up a career-high 28 goals and 22 assists for 50 points in 66 games with the Condors.

The Golden Knights confirmed that they were the only ones in on Lavoie this time, and can move him down to the AHL.

Along with Lavoie, another player was claimed off the wire. On Thursday goalie Kaapo Kahkonen was placed on waivers by the Winnipeg Jets and was just claimed by the Colorado Avalanche.

Kahkonen signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Jets this past summer after splitting the 2023-24 season between the San Jose Sharks and New Jersey Devils.

Just one other player, Spencer Smallman (Washington Capitals) was up for grabs on Thursday, but he cleared and will be assigned to the AHL’s Hershey Bears.

As for Friday's additions on the waiver wire, the Boston Bruins have placed defenseman Ian Mitchell on there.
