Lightning place veteran goalie Halverson on waivers

Anyone up for a freebie out there?

This just in, the Tampa Bay Lightning have placed 28 year old goaltender Brandon Halverson on waivers, just two days after signing him to a two year contract.

It's assumed that Halverson will be assigned back to the AHL's Syracuse Crunch if he clears waivers tomorrow. The long-time AHL netminder has played 26 games for Syracuse this season, earning 12 wins.

He was signed to essentially act as an emergency option behind the Lightning's two top goaltenders Andrei Vasilevsky and Jonas Johansson. Halverson has played just 13 minutes in the NHL over his nearly decade long pro career, coming in for relief back in 2017-18. He backed up Vasilevsky earlier this week in the Lightning's victory over the Ottawa Senators but it looks like with Johansson ready to get back into the lineup that Halverson will head back to the AHL.
