Leafs officially confirm two big returns ahead of clash against Oilers.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will get a significant boost to their lineup ahead of a clash with the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are getting healthy at the right time, just ahead of a big clash against the Edmonton Oilers on Hockey Night in Canada.
According to an official announcement, both forwards John Tavares and Matthew Knies have been activated off of injured reserve and both men will make their respective return to the lineup tonight when the Leafs take on the Oilers.
The news comes as no surprise given that both Tavares and Knies were participants in Friday's practice alongside their teammates, a clear indication that they were both very near to making a return to action. Here is how the Maple Leafs lineup looked on Friday:
Knies - Matthews - Marner
Pacioretty - Tavares - Nylander
McMann - Domi - Robertson
Holmberg - Kampf - Lorentz
Reaves
McCabe - Tanev
Rielly - Ekman-Larsson
Benoit - Timmins
Myers

Knies has only been out a short time, last appearing on the 22nd of January during a game in Columbus against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but Tavares on the other hand has been out a while now with his last appearance coming on the 14th of January in a game in Dallas against the Dallas Stars. Only time will tell if either man has a little rink rust they will need to shake off before getting fully engaged in tonight's game.
Both players are huge contributors on offense for the Maple Leafs with Tavares producing nearly a point per game this season having recorded 20 goals and 22 assists for 42 points in 44 games, while Knies has 18 goals and 13 assists for 31 points in 47 games this season.
