The Pittsburgh Penguins announced today that they've hired former Toronto Maple Leafs goaltending coach Jon Elkin as the Penguins' new goaltending coordinator.

Elkin most recently was employed by Dubas with the Leafs but with Dubas moving on to the Penguins this offseason, Elkin was out of a job in Toronto. He joined the Leafs organization back in August 2018 as the team's AHL goaltending consultant with the Toronto Marlies. In the summer of 2021, Elkin was promoted to the role of Goaltender Evaluation and Development with the NHL's Leafs.

Surprise, surprise though... Elkin and Dubas have a history going back to their time with the OHL's Soo Greyhounds. The pair worked together with the Greyhounds during the 2013-14 OHL season.

Elkin is the second person to leave the Maple Leafs and join Pittsburgh following Dubas' departure from the organization. Former Assistant to the GM Jason Spezza left Toronto earlier this summer to join Dubas as an Assistant GM of the Penguins.
