Both Dubas and Spezza are with Pittsburgh now.

There was a significant shift in management during the summer as the Toronto Maple Leafs parted ways with Kyle Dubas, a move that came as a surprise shortly after their season ended with a defeat by the eventual Eastern Conference champions, the Florida Panthers. Dubas was soon replaced by Brad Treliving, the former GM of the Calgary Flames.
Dubas quickly resurfaced, assuming the position of President of Hockey Operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Shortly before the regular season started, he decided to also take on the role of General Manager for the Penguins, at least for the time being. And soon joining him in Pittsburgh as assistant general manager was Jason Spezza, who had the same role with Toronto.
Last night was a significant game for Dubas, Spezza and the Penguins, who earned a critical point in the standings last night against the Leafs. Pittsburgh was able to tie the game late to secure a single point, moving them back into a tie for the final Wild Card playoff spot.
But the Penguins failed to secure the extra point in overtime after Jake McCabe beat goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic in the extra session, his first career overtime goal, as the Leafs secured the extra point.
And the disappointed reaction from both Dubas and Spezza, who were watching from a suite in the arena that they once called home, would soon go viral on social media.
Regardless, this recent run by the Penguins after they were essentially left for dead, especially after the trade of Jake Guentzel at last month's NHL Trade Deadline, has been impressive, and they're still mathematically alive in the tightly-contested playoff race.
