Kings were turned down TWICE on Deadline Day!
Two players refused to be moved to Los Angeles earlier this month:

If you thought Trade Deadline Day was rough on teams that did not manage to make any significant changes to their respective roster ahead of the postseason, you have no idea how hard it was on the Los Angeles Kings.
According to Nick Kypreos, both Calgary Flames goalie Jacob Markstrom and Boston Bruins netminder Linus Ullmark refused to waive their no-trade clauses to go to Los Angeles.
Earlier this month, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman had revealed how Ullmark refuse to waive his clause to join the Kings.
Kypreos believes Ullmark felt like the Bruins have a better chance of winning the Stanley Cup than the Kings and therefore declined what would have been a monster trade to be shipped out to LA. It’s also believed that 14 of the 16 clubs on Ullmark’s no-trade list are Western Conference teams.
As for Markstrom, Kypreos claims that the Flames’ goalie had no interest in being on the West Coast. This caught some folks off guard seeing that before he was traded to the Flames, Markstrom spent seven seasons with the Vancouver Canucks. Kypreos might have been refereeing to the Coast in California.
This had to be a tough blow to the Kings, who are already struggling with what should have been a successful trade for forward Pierre-Luc Dubois. He’s been struggling all season long and has failed to help push the Kings into the postseason.
When it comes to an improvement in net, the Kings could revisit their options in the summer. They will have over $22 million in projected cap space for next season and could use some to get a top goalie. I guess we will have to wait and see if more players will refuse to waive their clauses to join the Kings.
Then, if I were them, I’d take it personally…
