The Edmonton Oilers might be feeling confident after their 6-0 blowout win in Game 2 of the first round series against the Los Angeles Kings, but their opponents are looking to break their confidence hours before Game 3 in California.
TSN’s Ryan Rishaug attended practice on Friday afternoon only to find out that the Kings’ arena staff at Crypto.com Arena didn't turn on the lights for the Oilers. Edmonton was hoping to get ready on the ice before the official start to practice, but nothing was ready for them. The players only showed up 15 minutes ahead of time, but the arena staff was not helping and didn't turn on the light until start time.
On top of that, they put away the nets and refused to give them to the Oilers before the official start to practice. Not a second sooner. The arena was nowhere ready for practice time when the Oilers were allowed to skate.
The Kings practice in a different facility and so the Oilers faced unexpected issues prior to the skate. Eventually as Rishaug points out, the staff got the lights on and nets were moved by the Oilers’ staff to get practice going.
It’s all here:
Not sure this will get to the Oilers’ heads. Edmonton will look to take a lead in the series tonight at a very bright Crypto.com Arena.
