John Tavares on possibly waving his no-move clause.
The captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs faced questions about a potential trade on Monday.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have left another disappointing season in the rearview mirror but, unlike in the past, this time around it feels like there will be significant changes to this team moving forward.
No one seems to know which form those changes will take but as you might expect the Maple Leafs' players were asked about some of those possibilities during their end of season media availability on Monday. Perhaps the only player that is truly safe at this time is Maple Leafs captain John Tavares thanks to a full no-movement clause in his contract, but even he was forced to respond to questions about a potential trade on Monday.
Tavares was asked about the possibility of waiving his no-movement clause in the future to facilitate a trade out of Toronto, but to no one's surprise the Toronto native didn't seem to want any part of that.
"I love it here and I’ve made a commitment to being here for seven years," said Tavares. "I love it here."
Tavares added that he also takes his role as captain of the Maple Leafs very seriously and felt there was still a 'tremendous opportunity' for the Maple Leafs to succeed moving forward.
Long story short, Tavares isn't going anywhere.
