Rick Bowness’ season debut as Winnipeg Jets head coach will have to wait some more. On Wednesday, it was confirmed by TSN team insider John Lu that Bowness won’t join his team for the remaining two games of their current road trip.
Bowness tested positive for COVID-19 just hours before their season opener against the New York Rangers last Friday and hasn’t returned since. He missed Monday’s matchup against the Dallas Stars and will not be behind his players for Wednesday’s clash against the Colorado Avalanche or the game Friday against the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Jets will return from their three-game road trip with the hopes that Bowness will feel better and rest to kick off his season as the Jets’ new head coach.
The 67-year-old got the job in Winnipeg this summer after coaching the Dallas Stars for three seasons.
We wish him all the best and hope to see him soon back in action.
