Jeremy Swayman breaks silence after Linus Ullmark trade
The closest goalie tandem in the NHL has been broken up.
They were arguably the closet goaltending tandem in recent NHL history, and it's been broken up.
The Boston Bruins have traded goaltender Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators, meaning that the starting gig is now officially in the hands of Jeremy Swayman. But for the three seasons that they played together wearing the spoked B, no tandem in hockey were better friends and rooted for the other goalie harder.
In fact, their post-game celebration hugs became one of the more heartwarming sights that even opposition fans grew fond of.
Not long after the trade was made official, Swayman voiced his thoughts on social media:
“Brother for life,” Swayman wrote on Instagram that included a highlight video of Ullmark's time with Boston.
In return for Ullmark, the Senators sent goalie Joonas Korpisalo, forward Mark Kastelic and a first-round pick in this year’s NHL Draft to Boston.
