Jamie Benn and Adam Lowry drop the gloves in captain vs captain showdown on Saturday.
The fans watching live in Winnipeg at the Canada Life Centre on Saturday have been treated to one heck of a show on Saturday afternoon, and it just keeps getting better.
Although it looks like the Winnipeg Jets are well on their way to claiming yet another win on the season, with the Jets holding a commanding 4-0 lead, things got pretty heated in the third period between the aforementioned Jets and Dallas Stars.
It all started when Stars captain Jamie Benn would deliver a cross check late in the third period, earning himself a penalty in the process, but despite the fact that the officials arm was already up the Jets wanted a measure of revenge. That revenge would come in the form of Jets captain Adam Lowry, who skated up to Benn to let him know that he clearly was not happy with the cross check that he had just delivered.
After a brief conversation between the two men the gloves would come off and both men would begin to jostle for position. After some hugging and shoving the fists began to fly with Benn throwing the majority of the punches, but Lowry also landing a solid shot of his own during the exchange before the officials stepped in to seperate the two men. Benn was immediately sent off the ice with very little time left in the game as Lowry was sent to the penalty box to serve his penalty for his role in the fight.
