Jake Oettinger pulled after brutal chant from fans in Winnipeg.

The Winnipeg Jets fan base once again showed its ruthless side on Saturday, chasing Jake Oettinger out of the game.

Fans in Winnipeg have shown that they have a truly ruthless side this season, and on Saturday afternoon we were treated to yet another example of this when the Winnipeg Jets welcomed the Dallas Stars to the Canada Life Centre.

The Jets dominated the first 40 minutes of play on the ice and the man who got the short end of that stick was Dallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger. Oettinger would allow 4 goals on just 15 shots from the Jets, but I don't think it would be fair to lay the blame all on Oettinger as the team in front of him simply wasn't playing very well.

In fact I suspect that the decision from Dallas Stars head coach Peter Deboer to pull Oettinger out of the game was one done out of mercy for his number one goaltender rather than it being due to Oettinger's poor play on on the ice. In fact part of that decision may have come due to the fact that fans in Winnipeg were loudly screaming one of the most brutal chants I've heard all season at the Dallas Stars' top netminder.

As Oettinger sat in his net, after having already given up 4 goals, the fans at the Canada Life Centre began chanting "U.S. backup" a clear reference to the upcoming Four Nations Face Off that will take place in February. There is a ton of competition at the goaltending position for the United States, with players like Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman, Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko, and most importantly of all Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck all in the mix.

The Jets fan base obviously believe their man is the best man for the job and made sure to let Oettinger know that he has no hope of being anything more than a backup as long as Hellebuyck continues to play as well as he has this season.

It was a truly brutal chant, and you can hear it yourself in the short clip below.
