I’m not sure what took over New Jersey Devils’ Jack Hughes, but the star forward broke an NHL record for the longest shift on the ice on Friday night.

In a 6-4 loss to the New York Islanders, Hughes was on the ice for six minutes and two seconds.

The Devils removed their goalie and sent their best players on the ice in the hopes of tying the game up and pushing it to overtime. Hughes stayed on until the buzzer rang, which got his name into the history books, according to Sportsnet’s Stats.

This is the game sheet that recorded the impressive run from the 21-year-old forward, who also put up a goal and an assist in the loss.

We were already convinced how impressive Hughes was, but this record’s got our jaw dropped to the floor!
