Jack Edwards returns to the booth one last time with an emotional message.

Bruins legend Jack Edwards returned to the booth on Sunday night and shared an emotional message with fans.

Although he wasn't always the most popular figure around the National Hockey League, legendary Boston Bruins announcer Jack Edwards was a beloved figure in the city of Boston and on Sunday night he showed the entire hockey world exactly why that was the case.

Edwards was honored by the Bruins on Sunday night but I believe that the biggest takeaway from the night for hockey fans will be the beautiful message that Edwards shared when he returned to the booth for what is very likely the final time.

While in the booth, Edwards was asked why he believes that he resonated so strongly with the Bruins faithful, and the answer he gave likely brought tears to the eyes of every Bruins fan around the globe. Edwards expressed that it was simply his love for the team that helped him achieve the level of success he attained for so many years in the broadcast booth.

"I was myself and I am a Bruins fan through and through," said Edwards. "And I didn't try to fake it, and I think there is not an Original 6 if you're raised in New England. There's an Original 1. And the Bruins were that team from day one with me."

The speech issues that forced Edwards to step away from his role were evident during his short message, but if anything that only made the message all that more emotional to hear coming from the man who was the voice of the Bruins for so long. You can hear Edwards deliver the message in the short clip just below:

Edwards is truly one of a kind and I count myself lucky to be among those who had the chance to listen to him call games for so many years. I don't think we will ever get another Jack Edwards during my lifetime, and that is no disrespect to anyone else that will try to fill the giant void that he has left in the broadcast booth since his departure.
