J.T. Miller moved right with Rangers’ teammate without asking as soon as trade was done

As soon as he was traded to New York, Miller knew where to go. Full story below:

When forward J.T. Miller was traded to the New York Rangers by the Vancouver Canucks on Friday, he left the team immediately and headed out East. He arrived in Boston around 3 a.m. on Saturday, off a flight from Dallas, where the Canucks were playing the Stars. Miller was in uniform against the Bruins on Saturday, he first game back with the club that drafted him No. 15 in the 2011 NHL Draft and for which he’d played his first six seasons in the NHL.

Before that contest, Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck posted an old picture in one of his stories on Instagram of him as a kid with a young Miller playing together a long time ago.

“He’s my best friend in the world,” an emotional Trocheck said after the trade via NHL.com. “I think this had been a pipe dream for — 10 years in the making, I feel like. Obviously came in the League around the same time. Grew up since we were nine years old together, live about 500 yards from each other back in Pittsburgh. Our kids are really close.”

That’s probably why Miller moved in with Trocheck without even asking. As he got to New York, the new Ranger simply headed to his best friend’s house, knowing he had a place to live until he settles his family in the Big Apple.

Miller was welcomed with open arms by the Rangers, who had been linked to the former Canuck for weeks now. He could be the spark New York desperately need to clinch a playoff spot as they currently sit in sixth place in the Metropolitan Division with a 25–23-4 record. The Rangers were in the mix from the start when it came to Miller and it feels like he is now in the right place. Especially if you ask Trocheck about it:

“We’ve been talking about it forever. It means a lot. It’s just a cool experience to be able to play with your best friend in the NHL.”
