J.T. Miller barks back at Canucks’ president Jim Rutherford which could lead to ugly outcome
The forward is not happy and you can tell by what he said ahead of tonight’s game against Nashville. Watch below:
The Vancouver Canucks are getting ready to face off against the Predators in Nashville later tonight, but some reporters still wanted to address the dressing room feud after the morning skate.
On Tuesday, Canucks president Rutherford spoke candidly with Gary Mason of the “Globe and Mail” about the team’s struggles this season and openly admitted that a locker room feud between stars Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller has fractured the club.
When Miller faced reporters, he was immediately asked about his reaction to Rutherford’s comments and it’s quite easy to tell the top forward was not happy about the questions. More than once, he refused to say anything about his president’s statement, repeating “I don’t have one” when asked about making a comment.
This is clearly Miller’s way to communicate to the Canucks his frustration with how they’ve been handling the situation, which could certainly lead to an imminent move.
While Rutherford did mention in his interview with Mason that believes that if the Canucks are successful and rack up wins, it could change the dynamics in the dressing room and allow for a fresh start, it may be too late now to patch things up with Miller.
I would not be surprised if Miller ends up getting traded sooner rather than later as he clearly seems fed up not only with the situation but the Canucks as well.
Earlier this month, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman revealed that a transaction almost took place but fell apart, which would have apparently sent Miller to the New York Rangers. Forward Filip Chytil, defenseman Ryan Lindgren, and a first-round pick were reportedly part of the package that Rangers general manager Chris Drury had offered Vancouver before the trade was called off.
Maybe it’s time for the Rangers to get back on the phone…
