Insulting trade offer reportedly made for Brock Boeser!

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Vancouver Canucks allowed right winger Brock Boeser’s representatives to talk to other teams about a possible trade. According to Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal, the Calgary Flames are reportedly in the mix to acquire Boeser’s services, however what they’re looking to offer might be insulting to both the winger and Vancouver.

Nick Kypreos of the Toronto Star believes the Canucks will have difficulty moving Boeser without withholding 20 to 30 percent of his contract. Boeser is in the first season of a three-year deal with an annual salary of $6.65 million and lacks no-trade protection until July 1, 2024.

Maybe that’s why the Flames allegedly think they could take on Boeser’s full contract in exchange for veteran forward Milan Lucic’s expiring one. But don’t you think it will take a lot more than Lucic to tempt the Canucks into sending Boeser to a division rival? The 34-year-old has yet to record a goal in 26 games this season, and has only put up five assists.

The Flames could have to sweeten that package with a first-round pick and a top prospect and this could stop all rumours linking both the Canucks and Flames… Though Boeser is not off to the start everyone expected, posting just four goals in 20 games so far, he remains a talented forward and a change of scenery could be the best solution. 

There is also the modified no-trade clause factor for Lucic as the enforcer might not have put the Canucks on list of 10 teams he’s willing to be traded to. However he is a Vancouver native and could look to end his career back home. But he could be reluctant to join the drama in his hometown this season…
