Illegitimate Twitter account causes brief uproar for Leafs fans
This would have been crazy had it been real.

At one point or another, just about all of us have fallen for what appears to be a legitimate Twitter or other social media feed reporting what seems to be an absolutely outlandish bit of news that we initially take on face value due to it being cleverly disguised.
It certainly happens to the best of us, and it happened earlier this morning when a Twitter feed with the handle "StatsMundin" posed as the official account of the Maple Leafs and reported a stunning and sweeping organizational upheaval.
Among the completely fake and untrue moves that the Leafs were reported to have made included removing Team President Brendan Shanahan from his role and filling it with current general manager Kyle Dubas on a full-term basis. The supposedly vacated GM position would be filled by Carolina Hurricanes assistant GM Eric Tulsky, who is viewed as a hot commodity and has already reportedly interviewed with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
What's more, the Leafs were said to have also removed head coach Sheldon Keefe from his role and filled it with former player and current special assistant to the GM Jason Spezza.
In this day and age of hot takes on social media, it's a good lesson to ALWAYS verify your sources before accepting them at face value!
