Interviewer stuns rookie sensation Macklin Celebrini with anecdote about his parents.

Well this was certainly awkward.

On Saturday night, National Hockey League rookie sensation Macklin Celebrini was put into a rather awkward situation when Hockey Night in Canada's Scott Oake put the young star on the spot with a relatively uncomfortable question about his parents.

Celebrini, whose Sharks lost to the Calgary Flames by a score of 3-1 on the night, was asked about the origin story of his parents meeting one another and strangely enough the Hockey Night in Canada broadcast had more information on the topic than young Macklin himself. It was revealed to Celebrini that his parents had met at an infamous Vancouver bar known as The Roxy, with Celebrini understandably looking unsure about how to navigate the entire situation.

Scott Oake: Being from Vancouver I'm sure you've heard of The Roxy right? So your parents, both star soccer players at UBC, you would logically think that they met on the campus of UBC right? But I should tell you this, they met at The Roxy did you know that?

Celebrini apparently had no idea about the anecdote and simply laughed awkwardly when informed of how his own origin story began.

"I did not know that," said Celebrini. "I had no idea. I knew they met at some sort of bar but I didn't know it was The Roxy."

I honestly felt a little bad for the kid in this situation as there is simply no way to comfortably navigate a situation in which you are being informed about how your parents hooked up on national television. To his credit though Celebrini handled it well, laughing the whole way through, but I hope Hockey Night in Canada doesn't intend to subject him to any more moments like this one in the future.

Here's a look at a clip of the moment in question:
