Habs coach Martin St. Louis gives latest update on G Carey Price
The Habs goaltender has yet to suit up this season.
Former NHL Hart Trophy-winning goaltender Carey Price hasn't played this season thanks to his rehabilitation of both his knee and his mind after entering the NHLPA's substance abuse program.
However, he suffered an unfortunate setback with his knee, which has required him to start the physical rehab all over again after having undergone surgery in July.
Price has made several appearances at the team's training facility, taking part in training sessions on the ice. However, according to head coach Martin St. Louis, there isn't a set date for a return to action as the regular season schedule winds down despite the fact that the goaltender is traveling with his teammates.
"I don't think so," St. Louis responded when asked if Price could potentially play this weekend. "He'll let us know when he's ready."
Price, who will be entering his 15th season in the NHL, is in the midst of an eight-year, $84 million contract. He's a former Hart Trophy winner as the NHL's Most Valuable Player during the 2014-15 season, as well as a two-time Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL's top goaltender.
The Habs certainly missed Price in net this season, as they were the first NHL squad to be officially and mathematically eliminated from postseason contention.
