Back in 2019 young goaltender Mikayla Demaiter was forced to drastically change her career path after a knee injury effectively put an end to her career as a goaltender in the sport of hockey, but thus far the transition to a new career seems to be going very well for her.

"Dear Hockey. It is time to say goodbye," wrote Demaiter on her Instagram in April of 2019. "It is time to turn the page and move to the next chapter of my life, for the first time you will not be my number one focus."

As a result of the knee surgery that sidelined her career Demaiter has become a professional model and if her Instagram is any indication she has been very successful thus far. In spite of the fact that she only transitioned into modeling a little over 2 years ago now, Demaiter has quickly garnered over a million followers on the social media platform and has done so with just 103 posts.

Here are a few examples of her latest uploads:

The native of Woodbridge, Ontario spent most of her hockey career in the Provincial Women's Hockey League where she spent several seasons as a goalkeeper for the Bluewater Hawks before eventually deciding to step away from the sport following her knee surgery. In spite of that she remains a part of the hockey world and, somewhat unsurprisingly, has even attracted the attention of some of the players at the highest levels of the sport. Maiter is currently attached to National Hockey League forward Kurtis Gabriel, and he can often be seen leaving a comment or 2 on her latest Instagram uploads.
