It’s getting nasty. Fans point fingers at specific players too…

The NHL season got underway amidst a serious controversy involving active players. In May, news broke that Hockey Canada quietly settled a lawsuit filed by a woman who alleges she was sexually assaulted by eight unnamed players, including several members of the country’s 2018 world junior team, following a gala in London, Ontario. The NHL has started an investigation into the alleged sexual assault and NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly recently stated that they had “gotten full cooperation, by the way, from all the member players of that squad.”
On Tuesday, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman finally provide some comments and details on the ongoing investigation, stating that no firm timeline yet for NHL’s report to be done but that it’s closer to the end than it was. But no firm time line to share on NHL investigation, according to insider Pierre LeBrun:
Fans have had enough and wanted more from the commissionner, who got called out as many believe he will protect the players…
Others even went as far as pointing the fingers to players who could be involved in the allegations, not waiting for the result of the investigation.
Earlier this summer, Ottawa Senators’ Drake Batherson and Alex Formenton were trending because they are keeping quiet. Many wondered how the Senators are feeling and what they’d have to do if Batherson and Formenton. TO BE CLEAR: We are not saying Batherson and Formenton are involved in the ongoing Hockey Canada sexual assault allegations.
Fans wanted a better answer from Bettman, but it feels like they’ll need to be patient.
Hockey Canada has faced increased scrutiny in the wake of yet another alleged gang sexual assault case involving Hockey Canada’s 2003 world junior team.
Wonder how long it will take to get Bettman’s comments or talks of an investigation on that one…
