Former NHLer slams “pathetic” New York Islanders.
A former NHL player has called out the New York Islanders in truly brutal fashion.
The New York Islanders currently find themselves sitting in the middle of the National Hockey League's Metropolitan division, just one spot below intrastate rivals the New York Rangers, but that is apparently enough to have earned them a brutal call out from a former NHL player.
On Saturday night, former NHL player Paul, Bissonnette took to social media to completely slam the Islanders and their players after the Islanders coughed up an early lead in the first period as well as a two goal lead in the the third period to eventually lose Saturday night's game against the New Jersey Devils. The Islanders would earn a point in the loss, eventually falling to the Devils in overtime, but that didn't stop Bissonnette from laying into them following the conclusion of the game.
"The Islanders are allergic to leads," wrote Bissonnette on social media platform X. "Never seen anything like it. Pathetic. "
Those are some pretty harsh words from Bissonnette and I do wonder how they will go over with the Islanders franchise given some of the names involved with that team. Both Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello and Islanders head coach Patrick Roy are known to be fierce competitors and I doubt very much that either man will take kindly to the words from Bissonnette on Saturday night.
Although the Islanders are currently in the middle of the standings of the metro they are digging themselves into a bit of hole with their recent run of form, going 4-5-1 over their last 10 games and falling 4 points back of the aforementioned Rangers. They are 7 points back of the division lead New Jersey Devils, but neither of those are insurmountable leads given that it is still relatively early in the season.
It will be very interesting to see how the Islanders respond to this call out from Bissonnette.
