The Philadelphia Flyers have just unveiled their opening night roster and boy is there a lot for fans in Philadelphia to be excited about.

The roster will feature a host of new names when the Flyers officially kick off the regular season on Friday when they will travel to Vancouver to take on the Vancouver Canucks. Two names really stand out here and they are those of rookie forward Matvei Michkov and fellow rookie forward Jett Luchanko.

Just about everyone has been put on notice at this point when it comes to Michkov after an outstanding performance from the 19 year old forward during the preseason. Michkov was making the highlight reels seemingly every time he set foot on the ice and it comes as no surprise to see him listed among the starters.

The Flyers will also set a new record when they open the season with the addition of the aforementioned Luchanko on the main roster. Luchanko, who is only 18 years old, will become the youngest player to ever play for the franchise according to National Hockey League insider Frank Seravalli.

Luchanko earning a spot on the opening roster is a huge deal but whether or not he remains there will likely depend a great deal on how he performs early on during the regular season. The Flyers have the ability to play Luchanko for up to 9 games without burning a year off of his entry level contract, so that will be a situation worth monitoring closely for Flyers fans.

Luchanko performed well during the preseason, picking up a pair of assists, and that likely contributed a great deal to him earning this spot on the opening night roster.

It is an exciting time to be a fan of the Philadelphia Flyers to be sure, here is a look at the complete opening night roster for the Flyers:
