Flyers’ new coach reveals why he benched Cam York for the WHOLE GAME!
The defenseman was dressed and on the bench, but did not play a single second in the game. Find out why below:
Young Phildelaphia Flyers defenseman Cam York has dealt with benching under head coach John Tortorella. But it was the same under interim head coach Brad Shaw on Thursday night when the Flyers hosted the Montreal Canadiens.
The Flyers did dress York tonight but he had zero shifts and zero TOI.
When Shaw was asked in the postgame presser why York remained on the bench for the entire game, the new head coach Shaw explained that the young blue liner did not play for disciplinary issue, Shaw wouldn’t go any further on what happened. Plan is for York to get back in Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres.
I bet fans were thinking that, with Torts out of Philly, York would get a chance.
This past Tuesday night, the Flyers got doors blown off them, losing 7-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Unfortunately, York only played 3:50 of that game, as he was benched following a goal that made the score 1-1 at the time.
York is playing for a contract next season, as he becomes a restricted free agent this summer.
He better straighten up before the end of the season.
