The Philadelphia Flyers have already been busy today, having sent Sean Walker and a 5th-round pick in 2026 NHL Draft to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for forward Ryan Johansen, who has since been placed on waivers.

In the meantime, Flyers general manager Danny Briere continued his work today by announcing a new contract extension for defenseman Nick Seeler, a four year deal that carries an AAV of $2.7 million.

Additional details of the trade were provided by The Athletic's and TSN's Chris Johnston, who wrote the following on his X (formerly Twitter) account regarding the move:

"Nick Seeler's #flyers extension carries a full no-trade clause over the first two years, plus a $1.5M signing bonus in Year 1 and $1M signing bonus in Year 2. The four-year contract carries a $2.7M AAV, as @DarrenDreger reported."

The Eden Prairie, MN native was originally selected with the 131st overall pick by the Minnesota Wild, where he spent the first portion of his NHL career before being waived and subsequently claimed by the Chicago Blackhawks in February of 2020.

Eventually, he'd find his way to the Flyers in 2021 by signing a one year contract worth $750,000. Agreeing to stick around the City of Brotherly Love, he would sign a two-year, $1.550 million contract extension in May of 2022.

This season, he's scored one goal with six assists along with a +15 rating. In 288 career NHL games split between the Wild, Blackhawks and Flyers, he's scored eight goals with 33 assists.
