The saying goes, you have to give to get.
The Philadelphia Flyers traded franchise cornerstone Claude Giroux to the Florida Panthers at the 2022 NHL Trade Deadline, and in return they acquired forward Owen Tippett. And because the Flyers have liked what they've gotten from their return for Giroux, they're keeping him around long term.
Earlier today, the Flyers finalized a contract extension for Tippett, an eight-year, $49.2 million pact that sees him earn $6.2 million per season.
