The Philadelphia Flyers had their eyes on prospect Massimo Rizzo and finally got closer to adding him to their roster on Wednesday. Per insider Frank Seravalli, the Flyers have just acquired the rights to Rizzo along with a fifth round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft in return for the rights to forward David Kase.

Rizzo was the rumoured prospect in the Tony DeAngelo trade that fell apart in late June.

When it comes to Rizzo, here is what you need to know. The 22-year-old forward put up 17 goals and 46 points in 38 games with the University of Denver last season. He was initially selected in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Draft by the Hurricanes.

As for Kase, who was originally selected by Philadelphia in the fifth round,128th overall, of the 2015 NHL Draft, he has only played in seven career games with the Flyers from 2019-21. He spent the past two years playing with Sparta Praha in the Czech Republic.

Kase had six goals and 14 points in 25 with Sparta Praha this past year.
