Finland names starting goaltender vs. Canada.
With their tournament lives on the line, Team Finland has named the goaltender who will take on Team Canada.
The Four Nations Face-Off will continue on Monday with a pair of huge games on Monday that will determine who we will see playing in the final of the tournament.
The first of those two games will see Team Finland taking on Team Canada and with both teams having their tournament lives on the line in this one, you can bet that both teams will be pulling out all the stops to make sure that they are the ones who will advance to the final.
There was some question coming into this one about who would be starting in goal for Finland with Juuse Saros starting the tournament and losing the net to goaltender Kevin Lankinen after a rough start against Team USA in Finland's first game of the tournament. Saros posted a 6.00 goals against average and a .813 save percentage in that game and those are simply not the kind of numbers you can be having from your goalie if you want to be a competitive team in this tournament.
It would seem that lone shaky performance from Saros has cost him the net for the remainder of this tournament though, with National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman reporting that it will be Vancouver Canucks netminder Kevin Lankinen who once again gets the start for Finland on Monday.
Lankinen has had the better performance in this tournament without a doubt, with the Finnish netminder recording a 2.91 goals against average and a .875 save percentage in Finland's win over Sweden on Saturday.
There has been no word as of yet when it comes to who will be starting in goal for the Canadian side in today's game, with Team Canada head coach Jon Cooper deliberately avoiding the question when asked on Sunday.
