Filip Forsberg signs huge new 8 year contract.
Forsberg is staying in Nashville.
The Nashville Predators will be hanging on to their top forward for the foreseeable future.
After much back and forth over the last few weeks regarding his contract status and the potential to test free agency it is now official, Filip Forsberg will remain a member of the Nashville Predators for the next 8 years. The Predators officially announced the news via their social media, although they did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.
Multiple reports indicate the deal will carry an average annual value of $8.5 million, although that has yet to be officially confirmed.
In an amusing turn of events, National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman, who also reports the deal coming in at 8 x $8.5 million, is indicating that the deal may not be 100% official yet due to the fact that Forsberg is currently occupied by a bachelor party of all things.
