Last night, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby appeared to suffer an injury to his left arm in the game against the New Jersey Devils. During the third period of the contest, Crosby awkwardly collided with Devils defenseman Luke Hughes and forward Erik Haula, and sort of got sandwiched between them. Crosby looked in visible pain as he skated off the ice and into the dressing room.

It was a huge sigh of relief when the star forward returned to the game and finished it, with the Penguins losing 3-2 in a shootout, however, on Wednesday, things turned south when Crosby was missing from team practice and head coach Mike Sullivan announced that the Penguins superstar was getting “evaluated for an upper-body injury.”

“I don’t have any more specifics. Once we have more specifics, I’ll let you know,“ the Penguins head coach said.

However, on Wednesday evening, the Penguins held their annual Night of Assists charity gala with proceeds from “Night of Assists” supporting the mission of the Penguins Foundation. The team used social media to post pictures of the players getting ready to host casino games, and in the publications we can see Crosby is attending the event.

Fans have been asking questions and making hypotheses in comments and in replies, wondering if Crosby is injured, or if he just needed some time off the ice.

The pictures do not reveal much, though it seems like Crosby is in good spirits.

Pittsburgh is back in action on Friday night when they face the Rangers in New York City.

Evgeni Malkin, who’s missed action since he sustained unspecified lower-body injury 11 days ago in Seattle, was also present for the event and looked great on the pictures.

Crosby is set to captain Team Canada in the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off, taking place in Montreal and Boston from Feb. 12-20. When he left the Pens’ game last night, most fans got worried about his condition ahead of the tournament and what it could mean for the Canadian squad.

Crosby has 17 goals and 41 assists over 55 games and the Penguins, and Team Canada, cannot afford to lose him at this time.
