Fans plummet to the floor after railing collapses at Rogers Arena.

The Vancouver Canucks may not be playing at Rogers Arena with their National Hockey League season already over but there are still plenty of events taking place in the home of the NHL franchise, including Saturday night's UFC 289 event.

The event was what you would expect of a typical UFC card north of the border but there was one notable moment during the night that could have easily led to disaster. During one of the fighter walkouts a railing that was holding back the fans in attendance suddenly collapsed and sent a large number of fans crashing to the floor.

While this was a potentially dangerous situation for the fans who plummeted to the ground, I am happy to report that none of the fans who fell through the railing are believed to have suffered any serious injuries. Following the event, UFC president Dana White was quick to commend the work of the staff at Rogers Arena who went out of their way to take care of the fans involved.

"The arena handled it immediately, roped it off, got security up there, moved people to some better seats and managed it like a bunch of pros," said White of the incident.
