The struggling Edmonton Oilers need to figure out things out in a hurry, as they can ill afford to fall further behind in the standings. And their quest to get back into the swing of things is going to start tomorrow on the national stage when the Oilers host their bitter provincial rival Calgary Flames in the NHL Heritage Classic at Commonwealth Stadium.

The fact that there are still tickets available for the matchup is a rather telling indication of the confidence level of the fans, who booed their team off the ice following last night's 3-0 loss at Rogers Place at the hands of the New York Rangers, dropping them to a stunning 1-5-1 record through the first seven games of the new season.

And in order to drum up some interest in the upcoming matchup, forward Evander Kane decided to make an appearance on Global News on Friday morning, doing the job of a weatherman:

Sunday's forecast is expected to be brutally cold at approximately -3 degrees Celsius (27 F) by the time the puck is dropped at 7:00 PM EST. Kane advised viewers to be sure and bring their tuque or skully hats.

He worked alongside Global’s Ciara Yaschuk, who serves as the network's morning and noon weather anchor. And she was enjoying the cameo appearance from the Oilers forward!

“Well, the noon weather was definitely entertaining today,” Yaschuk wrote. “Thanks so much for joining me Evander Kane and giving our viewers a Heritage Classic weather preview!”

There has been plenty of shine taken off tomorrow's game thanks to the struggling records of both Alberta teams, both of whom are need to figure things out in a hurry before it becomes too deep of a hill to climb.
