Evan Rodrigues turned down significant offer and fired his agent only to get less in Colorado

Is he kicking himself now?

Earlier on Monday, the Colorado Avalanche signed forward Evan Rodrigues to a one-year, $2-million contract. Rodrigues was one of the last “big names,” so to speak, left in the free agent market, and while I am sure he is thrilled to be part of the defending champions’ roster, it was revealed by insider Frank Seravalli that he had turned down a much-better offer earlier this summer.

Seravalli pointed out that Rodrigues was offered a 3-year, $10.5M contract at the beginning of free agency that he passed on, which led to changing his agent.

The new agent went back to the drawing board, however, could never get a better or even an offer just as good.
Finally, Rodrigues agreed to the Avalanche’s offer where he will need to prove his worth with a show-me deal.
There is no doubt that Rodrigues will be a great addition in a depth role in Colorado. The champions had to part with players like Nazem Kadri, Andre Burakovsky, and Nicolas Aube-Kubel, so this is a perfect chance for Rodrigues, who spent parts of the last three seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins scoring 27 goals and 58 points over 124 games.

However, we can understand if Rodrigues is upset with not accepting this reported more lucrative offer, though we have no indication which team made it.

Maybe after all he is better off in Colorado with the Avs looking for back to back championships.
