While the Edmonton Oilers have already ditched a pair of popular players in Kailer Yamamoto and Klim Kostin, one particular player that they are going to be keeping around has been announced earlier this afternoon.

Oilers general manager Ken Holland has re-signed forward Mattias Janmark to a one year contract extension worth a reported $1 million, a slight decrease in his salary from last season:

Holland and Janmark already had a past history, as he was selected 79th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Janmark would then be sent to the Dallas Stars at the 2015 NHL Trade Deadline as part of Holland's ill-fated strategy of trading young talent away for grizzled veterans, in this case being Erik Cole.

He would spend a handful of seasons with the Stars before making his way to the Chicago Blackhawks and then Vegas Golden Knights. He's coming off the one year, $1.25 million deal that he signed with the Oilers last summer. In his first year with Edmonton, he appeared in 66 games, scoring 10 goals with 15 assists for 25 points. He also added an assist in five postseason games.

In 486 career NHL games, Janmark has scored 76 goals with 107 assists, while adding eight goals and 17 assists in 66 career postseason games.

Oilers fans, how are you liking this deal?
