Well, throw this into the category of "things the Detroit Red Wings absolutely did not need right now".
They're in Raleigh to take on the Carolina Hurricanes, looking to bounce back from Tuesday night's devastating overtime loss against the Washington Capitals. But according to The Athletic's Max Bultman, they may be without forward Patrick Kane.
Per Bultman, Kane is not on the ice for pre-game warmups at PNC Arena, though no reason for Kane's absence was initially given.
Minutes ago, it was confirmed that Kane along with forward Austin Czarnik are dealing with the same illness that has been going around the Red Wings dressing room of late.
Kane has been one of Detroit's most valuable players this season since he was signed in late November, registering an impressive 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points in the 41 games that he's played in, nearly a point per game pace.
This would be a massive blow for the Red Wings to be without the veteran forward, who scored the tying goal against the Capitals in the waning minutes of regulation Tuesday night to salvage a point for Detroit.
