Devils' Gender Equality Night jersey is raising some eyebrows online

Tonight is officially "Gender Equality Night" at the Prudential Center for the New Jersey Devils' home game against the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs.

As is often the case during these special evenings like with Pride Night, Military Appreciation Night, etc. the Devils will be wearing a special one-off warmup jersey that is creating quite a buzz online.

I mean... just look at these beauties:

Personally, I'm all for gender equality... especially if it means looking fly as Hell in sick unis like these!

The jerseys were designed by Jersey artist Danielle Cartier who first created the look using physical materials to create a collage, which was then scanned into a high resolution file.

"Through this jersey design, I hope to illuminate how all variations of gender are equally valid and unique through the art-making process of collage," the artist states on the Devils' official website.

Again... I love it.

Of course, no everyone's a fan and it's not simply because of the art, but rather the messaging behind us. There are still a ton of hockey fans who get triggered at the idea of inclusivity and would rather hockey remain relegated to their silly swill soaked man-cave. To those fans I ask... why keep Military Appreciation Night? Why keep Law Enforcement Appreciation Night? Why do you have such a problem with people seeking to be included and seeking representation? Take a deep breath, crack a beer and watch some hockey. I guarantee you won't turn gay from being subjected to the colors of a rainbow, so just chill out and live and let live.

The thing that I DO have a problem with though is that these jerseys won't be worn during the game and will only be modeled during warmup. Huge missed opportunity in my book.
